Ghost Mannequin Equipment & Workflow: Faster, More Ergonomic, More Efficient
How fast, how ergonomically and how consistently a studio shoots depends not only on the ghost mannequin, but also on the equipment around it. At MohrModels, speed, ergonomics and repeatable studio workflows therefore go together. Our equipment comes from many years of real studio work, and each solution solves a specific problem in the workflow.
FastPants: The Swivel Arm for the Hanging Pants Torso
The problem: With a classic pants torso on a base plate, the stylist removes the inserts, lifts the torso off the plate, turns it, pulls on the trousers, turns it back, puts it back on the plate, refits the inserts and realigns everything – much of it bent over. Very long trousers can also touch the base plate at the bottom.
How it works: The hanging Pants Torso attaches magnetically to the FastPants arm. The arm is height-adjustable, swivels left and right and runs on heavy-duty, adjustable bearings. The workflow: swing out the arm, pull on the trousers, fit or remove the insert, swing the arm back, shoot.
The benefit: In our practical studio tests, FastPants speeds up the entire production process for trouser photography by more than 70%. The trouser legs hang freely – a major advantage, especially for long cuts. Like all our mannequins, the Pants Torso is shaped specifically for product photography: as few unwanted folds as possible, trouser legs that fall cleanly and straight, and creases that show well, with quick and easy styling. FastPants also significantly reduces constant lifting, turning and bending. The system is built for continuous professional studio use.
Stand Elevation for Children’s Mannequins
The problem: Children’s mannequins are smaller than adult mannequins. Without elevation, camera and lighting have to be adjusted, and staff more often work in a lower, less ergonomic posture.
How it works: The stand elevation brings children’s mannequins up to the same working height as the adult mannequins.
The benefit: Camera and lighting can stay largely unchanged, and it is ergonomically better for your staff too: they work upright instead of bending over.
Hanging Mannequins
The problem: Standing mannequins often have to be removed, turned and put back for dressing.
How it works: Besides standing mannequins, there are hanging versions, for example a hanging lower body for women, a hanging Pretty E, and sets for women and men, either hanging or combining hanging and standing mannequins.
The benefit: Less lifting and turning when dressing, and the mannequin stays at an ergonomic working height while styling.
Turntables
The problem: For front, side and back views, the mannequin should not have to be removed or repositioned.
How it works: The mannequin attaches to the turntable with a pin. For each view, it is simply turned.
The benefit: Front, side and back views can be photographed quickly without having to reposition the mannequin or change camera and lighting each time.
Base Plates
The problem: Standing mannequins need a safe, stable base.
How it works: The mannequin attaches to the base plate with a pin.
The benefit: The mannequin stays firmly in place, and shots can be repeated.
Stands for Underwear and Trousers
The problem: Lower bodies for underwear, swimwear and trousers need to stand at the right height without an upper body.
How it works: The stand holds the lower body.
The benefit: Bottoms can be styled and photographed on their own, securely and at the right height.
